Frequently
Asked Questions
|
|
|
| What
are the advantages of placing a property ad
with easttennesseeland.com? |
- You
have an immediate internet audience of
millions of people. Your primary audience
lives in East Tennessee, but there are
people all over the country who would
love to relocate to this area.
- The
cost (sometimes a free offer) is only
a tiny fraction of the cost of a comparable
newspaper ad. Also, the ad can run for
a more extended period of time and contain
significantly more information at this
minimal (or free) cost.
- One
single ad can be placed in up to four
different categories. For example, acreage
in a mountain resort could be classified
under acreage, resort property, mountain
property, and retirement property. To
achieve this in newspaper classifieds
would require four separate ads.
- You
have complete self-sufficiency and control
over your ad. You compose it, enter it,
and change it as often as you like. You
do not have to depend on some other person.
- Once
your ad is entered, it is immediately
available to millions of people.
- If
you happen to already have a web site
or page describing your property, you
can link the easttennesseeland.com ad to your site.
Additionally, if you have a company or
personal web site that specializes in
multiple properties, you can link all
your ads to that site. These links provide
additional portals and traffic into your
site.
|
|
|
|
| How
do I place an ad? |
- You
must be registered to place an ad. The
registration process will set up your
personal Logon ID and Password.
- Each
easttennesseeland.com public page contains a logon
area. Enter your Logon ID and Password,
then click the Log On button. You will
be taken to the private easttennesseeland.com secure
server that will keep all your subsequent
transactions confidential with encryption.
- On
the secure page, click the "Place
Ad" button. You are presented with
a form to enter your ad.
- After
you enter and submit the ad, it will be
displayed for your review. At this point,
you have the option of returning to the
form and making changes. The ad is now
available to the world.
|
|
|
|
| Why
do I need to register to place an ad? |
You
need to register to obtain a personal
Logon ID and a Password. After you place
an ad, you may later need to go back and
change the price, insert new information,
correct errors, take the property off
the market, etc. Having a Logon ID and
Password ensures that you are the only
person that can access and change your
ad.
|
|
|
|
| How
do I register? |
- From
any public page in the easttennesseeland.com site,
click on the "Register" menu
item.
- You
are presented with a Registration Form.
- The
only required information to enter is
a Logon ID and Password. The Logon ID
must be your email address, and
it must be a valid address. You assign
your own password, and it is important
that you remember it.
- There
is other optional information that you
can elect to enter.
- You
can optionally enter name, address, and
phone information. This information is
kept confidential and is not shared with
anyone.
- You
can optionally enter contact information.
This information is displayed with each
of your ads so that potential clients
can contact you about your property. You
enter only the information you want to
be made public.
- When
you submit your Registration Form, you
are immediately sent an email to activate
your account. It contains an activation
key with a link. You click on the key
and are taken to the easttennesseeland.com activation
page. Once you enter your valid Logon
ID and Password on this page, you are
successfully registered.
|
|
|
|
| Why
does my Logon ID have to be my email address? |
- First
of all, it is easier for you to remember
your email address than some made-up code
or nickname. If you are registered on
other sites, you may have learned how
difficult it is to have the same ID everywhere
because it is possible that someone else
has already picked your choice at some
of the sites.
- Secondly,
easttennesseeland.com must have a confirmed method
of contacting you should there be some
problem or question concerning your ad
or your acccount. For example, if you
forget your password, easttennesseeland.com can
send it to your Logon/Email address with
assurance that it is being sent to the
correct location.
|
|
|
|
| Can
I place an ad immediately after registering? |
Almost.
When you submit your registration form,
easttennesseeland.com immediately sends you an email
containing an activation key. When you
click on the activation key contained
in the email, you are sent to the easttennesseeland.com
activation page. Once you enter your valid
Logon ID and Password on this page, you
are successfully registered and may immediately
place an ad.
The time delay between the time you submit
your registration form and the time you
are allowed to place an ad depends on
the efficiency of the internet email system
at that point in time and the speed at
which you respond to the activation email.
You could receive the activation email
within seconds or within a few minutes
if the internet email system is running
OK. If either the sending mail server
or the receiving mail server is having
problems, it may take a few hours or more.
To be safe, register in plenty of time
to allow for any potential problems.
|
|
|
|
| Why
do I have to go through the activation step
to register? |
The
activation step confirms that your requested
LogonID is exactly equal to your email address.
You have to request the correct Logon/Email
ID to successfully receive the activation
email. Activating your account confirms
that your email address was correctly entered
as your Logon ID.
|
|
|
|
| What
if I register with a Logon ID that is not
equal to my email address? |
You
will not be able to activate your Logon
ID because you will never receive the activation
key by email.
|
|
|
|
| What
happens if I never receive my Logon ID activation
email? |
If
you do not immediately receive your activation
email, it may be because the internet is
slow. If you never receive the email, it
may be because your requested Logon ID does
not exactly equal your email address. Or,
it may be caused by some other technical
problem. In any case, if you never receive
it, contact support@etnland.com
|
|
|
|
| Why
should I enter any personal information on
the Registration Form? |
Entry
of personal information on the registration
form is entirely optional. However, this
information may be helpful if easttennesseeland.com
needs to contact you and is not able to
contact you using your Logon/Email ID. Any
information you enter here is not shared
with anyone else. It is maintained on our
secure server and any of this data transferred
between your computer and the easttennesseeland.com
site is encrypted before being transmitted
across the internet.
|
|
|
|
| Why
should I enter any contact information on
the Registration Form? |
Entry
of contact information on the registration
form is entirely optional. However, entry
of contact information informs potential
clients how to contact you about your
ad. You can enter as much information,
or as little information, as you want:
name, company, address, phone, fax, or
email address. Whatever you enter will
be appended to each of your ads when each
is displayed. If you do not enter any
contact information here, you will have
to provide some contact information in
each of your ads individually. The advantage
of entering this information on the registration
form: 1) It will automatically append
to each of your ads. 2) If you change
any contact information, it will automatically
and immediately reflect in each of your
ads. 3) Contact information will not take
up any of your allocated space in the
body of your ads.

|
|
|
| What
is the purpose of the Common Web Site Address
on the Registration Form? |
If
you have a company or personal web site
or page (for example: a realtor's site),
you can reference it on the registration
form. If you reference the site on the form,
each of your ads will automatically include
this link. This provides another portal
to your site with the possibility for increased
traffic.
|
|
|
|
| What
is the purpose of the Web Site Address on
the "Place An Ad" Form? |
If
you have a web site or page that specializes
in the particular property you are describing
in your ad, you can reference it when you
are placing the ad. When your ad is displayed,
this reference provides a link to your site.
|
|
|
|
| What
is the difference between the two types of
web sites/pages I can reference from my ads? |
Each
of your ads can reference and link up
to two types of web sites/pages. The common
web site address that you reference on
your registration form is relevant if
you have your own site that handles multiple
properties. This would apply to a realtor's
site or to someone that might be trying
to sell multiple properties and has them
combined within one web site. If you reference
this common site on the registration form,
the link is supplied automatically on
every ad you enter. On the other hand,
if you have a web site that is dedicated
to one piece of property, you should reference
this site only on the "Place An Ad"
form when you post the ad.
|
|
|
|
| Can
I change any of my registration information
after my Logon ID is activated? |
Yes.
Simply log on and select the desired option.
You can change your password, any personal
information, any contact information, and
any common web site address. You can do
this on your own, at any time, and as often
as you wish. However, you cannot change
your Logon ID on your own. If your email
address changes, please contact support@etnland.com
for instructions.
|
|
|
|
| Can
I modify an ad after it is posted? |
Yes.
Simply log on and select the desired option.
You can change anything you have previously
entered. You can do this on your own, at
any time, and as often as you wish. In fact,
you may type over all the old information
with a completely new ad. However, you cannot
change the ad expiration date.
|
|
|
|
| What
if I want to remove the ad before it expires? |
You
cannot remove the ad before its expiration
date but you can modify the Ad Type to "Under
Contract", "Not Available",
etc. There is also the option to hide the
ad from public view. You can also elect
to type over all the old information with
a completely new ad, but the expiration
date remains the same.
|
|
|
|
| What
happens to my ad when it expires? |
easttennesseeland.com
automatically removes expired ads. In some
cases, the ad may not be removed immediately.
Any ad that is expired, but not removed,
cannot be viewed from the public site, but
is still accessible by the owner within
the secure site.
|
|
|
|
| Why
do I sometimes get automatically logged off? |
To
enhance your security, easttennesseeland.com automatically
logs off a logged-on user after 60
minutes of inactivity. For example, if
you forget to log off, this will be taken
care of automatically for you at the expiration
of this time period.
Each
time you click to a new page, the time
limit is reset.
To avoid getting logged off while you
are in the middle of composing an ad,
save any work in progress if you will
not be clicking to a new page within this
time period. If you take a break in the
middle of composing an ad, select the
option to hide it from public view, go
ahead and submit it in partial form, come
back later and modify it to completion,
then select the option to remove it from
hidden status.
|
|
|
|
| What
is a hidden ad? |
Hiding
an ad keeps the public from seeing it.
However, you are still able to see it
and modify it in your private and secured
area.
Why
would you want to hide an ad from public
view? When you initially post the ad,
it is immediately available for public
view if you do not choose to hide it.
You may want to post it and hide it so
you can review it carefully before it
is made public. Or, you may have sold
a piece of property and you want to remove
the ad from public view.
|
|
|
|
| Can
I place just one ad to describe multiple properties? |
Yes.
This is convenient if you have multiple
properties, like in a development, that
are similar. Instead of posting one price,
there is an option on the "Place
An Ad" form that lets you specify
a price range. You can even specify just
a starting price. Also, you can also specify
an acreage range if applicable.
